OPEN CITY

An excerpt of my new book appears in the summer issue of Open City. The book is a memoir of my first few years in NYC. More info and to purchase the issue here.

33 1/3

There's a great series of books published by Continuum called 33 1/3. I'm sure many of you have seen them--they're the little pocket-sized books and each book is devoted entirely to the study of an individual record like Highway 61, Bee Thousand, Use Your Illusion, Doolittle, many more. Anyway, I've been picked to write the book on Pavement's Wowee Zowee and I feel really lucky and happy and excited about this. Also a little scared too because Pavement is my all-time favorite band and a lot of people love Wowee Zowee and I want to do a good job. The timeline on this is far in the future. Scared in a good way. Thank you, David, for the shot.

ABOUT THAT PICTURE UP ABOVE

It was taken late in the year 2003 or early in the year 2004 by either TJ or Christie or Greg, it was taken in the apartment downstairs, I don't know the people who live there anymore, my hair looks sort of spikey in the picture but doesnt look that way in real life, I think I'd just washed my face and run my fingers through my hair, the book I'm holding belonged to Christie, she gave it to me when she moved out and I looked at the pictures then put it on a shelf and then about a year ago gave it to the Salvation Army, I'm not wearing glasses in the picture but usually I do, I was 29 when it was taken, I may or may not have been employed.
